Abstract Moon

I find when I step away from the traditional and do something a little different it really helps my creativity. This project is an example of that, and I’ve created it using a mix of my abstract images. I also find that if I develop other types of art instead of flowers (my favourite), I actually get better at the traditional when I go back to it. See how you get with this project.

You Will Need:

  • Card blank 7 x 7”
  • Stamp 433846.
  • Stamp 437151
  • Stamp 437157
  • Generation Inx Dark Grey - DG03
  • Generation Inx Green – G01
  • Black ink pad.
  • Eureka 101 Watercolouring and Scoring Tablet. (Not essential item, but makes it easier).

Instructions:

  1. Stamp the moonlight in the top right corner of your cardstock. I used my dark grey Generation Inx DG03.

  2. Stamp the trees using the same ink pad.

  3. Repeat stamp the trees in the foreground in black ink, which will make the grey trees look like a drop shadow.

  4. Using one of the 1” texture strips from my abstract stamp collection, ink this up in green G01, and stamp this portrait style across the bottom of the card. This creates the appearance of a landscape.

  5. Using the Winter Bride die, Snow Castle die and Magnificent Polar Bear die, cut one each from white cardstock. Trim away the mirror and reflection from the Winter Bride. Using the Lavish Poinsettia die set, cut one each from the small, medium and large flowers. Using the Holly Branch die, cut two from white cardstock.

  6. Using the moonlight sentiment, I inked this up in black and stamped it out along the left-hand side of my project. You can play with whatever sentiments you think are appropriate for the occasion.
