Draw a simple stocking shape. Cut out one pair from the fabric you’ve chosen for the outside and another pair in pale grey for the lining. Stitch the two stocking pieces together with the right sides facing each other. Sew with a 5mm seam allowance around the outer edges, leaving the top open. Repeat the process with the lining pieces.
Clip the seam allowance around all the curved parts of the outer stocking, then turn it out, tease the curves and press them until they're flat. Place the unturned lining inside, matching the back and front seams together. Pin and stitch around the top close to the raw edges.
Cut a 4cm x 20cm bias strip from another fabric to fit around the top of the stocking. The bias of a fabric is at a 45 degree angle from the grain. Fold and press in 1cm on either side of the strip or use a bias binding folder to complete this process.
Open one side of the bias strip and position it around the top lining side of the stocking, starting in the centre between the front and back seam. Pin and stitch along the fold line pressed into the bias strip, overlapping the ends.
Fold the strip over onto the outer side of the stocking, positioning it over the sewn line. Pin and edge stitch in place, sandwiching the raw edge of the stocking inside the bias binding. Fold over 5cm at the top of the stocking to reveal the lining to make a cuff.
Make a 20cm hanging loop from another piece of bias binding. Bend the folded strip in half again, then edge stitch, sandwiching the raw edges inside. Attach it to the back seam at the folded top of the stocking. Make a bow from another strip and use it to cover the ends of the hanging loop.
Using the Scandi Heart fabric, cut a rough square around a heart, plus enough fusible webbing to fit the shape. Iron it into the back of the fabric, snip around the heart, peel off the paper backing and position the point of the heart over the join in the bias binding. Iron in place, then stitch a pom pom to the point of the heart.
