Sewing

< 1 hour

Beginner

You Will Need:

  • Tilda Spring Diaries
  • Charm Pack, two
  • Coordinating ric rac, 5m
  • Sewing Thread

Instructions:

  1. Choose 72 charm squares and sew them together in pairs until you have four strips, 18 squares long. Mix the squares up as you sew to get a random effect across the cowl.

  2. Press the seams to the side and sew the strips together in pairs along the long edge, so you have two panels that are two squares wide and 18 squares long. Press the long seam open to reduce bulk.

  3. Tack ric rac along the long edges of one panel, just inside the seam allowance, about 8mm from the edge.

  4. Pin the panels right sides together along the long edges, and sew with a 1cm seam allowance. Make sure the stitching line is just inside the tacking stitches. Turn the cowl inside out through the short ends and press.

  5. Fold the 1cm seam allowance to the inside of the cowl at one end and press. Insert the other end into the pressed opening, pin and sew through all the layers to close.
