Embellished Shell Necklace

We all do it, don’t we? We always come home from the beach with a pocket full of shells, sea glass, sand, and lots more! This necklace is created using a large intact shell. It’s a simple and quick make, and if you don’t have a necklace base to use, you could thread it onto a chain or piece of ribbon.

This project was created by our Jewellery Ambassador, Sarah Millsop.

  1. You will need to flatten a ribbon end or cord end using your jewellery pliers.

  2. shell necklace
  3. Make sure you can position it on the shell with enough space to attach your jump rings or a cord. You may wish to bend the ribbon end and slightly curve the inside to fit around the shell shape.

  5. I have had to create a ‘glue wall’ so that the end is fixed to enough of a surface area to secure it. It doesn’t look great from the inside… but if you’re gifting or selling, you could cover this with felt.

  7. Attach 2 jump rings and thread on to your necklace hoop, thread, or chain.
