Simple Wire Bead Ring

“A simple and stylish ring that is perfect for a beginner. (The next step after the Spiral Ring project). Any colour bead can be used to give different looks.” - Angela Finch

Jewellery Making

< 1 hour

Beginner

You Will Need:

  • 1 mm silver colour copper wire
  • 8mm Purple Faux Pearl Bead
  • Round Nose Pliers
  • Flat Nose Pliers
  • Flush Cutters
  • Ring Mandrel
  • Beads Direct Beading Mat

Instructions:

  1. Cut a 12 inch piece of 1 mm silver colour copper wire. Add the bead onto the wire, and move it into the centre of the wire.

  2. Wrap the wire around the ring mandrel. Use 1 measurement smaller than the ring size that is needed. (Note each end of the wire wraps the opposite way to the other one.)

  3. Continue wrapping the wire around the ring until there are 4 wires around the mandrel

  4. Use the right hand wire and wrap it around the bead. This can be fiddly to get right.

  5. Use the left hand wire and wrap it around the bead the opposite way. Take time to get this right. Experiment with different shapes as this wrapping can change the look of the ring.

  6. Use round nose pliers to make little loops at the ends of the wires. If necessary cut the wires first.

  7. Use flat nose pliers to make the loops snug against the wire loops around the bead.

  8. Gently slide the ring down the mandrel to the size that you require. The ring is now ready to wear.
